EL OLAM – The Eternal God, The Everlasting One
FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE FOR OUR 21 DAY JOURNEY: “It is of the LORD’s [YAHWEH’s] mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lam.3:22-23)
We are first introduced to the Eternal God, EL OLAM in Genesis 21 when Abraham makes a covenant with Abimelech, the king of Gerar. Although he had previously deceived the king by telling a “half-truth” concerning his wife Sarah saying “She is my sister” (Gen. 20:2), ELOHIM revealed the truth concerning her to Abimelech in a dream. When Abraham was confronted by him, he prayed and YAYWEH re-opened the wombs of the house of Abimelech (Gen. 20:17-18). As a result, Abimelech was convinced Abraham’s God was faithful. So when a dispute arose concerning a well, Abimelech asked for a tri-generational covenant of peace in exchange ownership of the well returning to Abraham. “Thus they made covenant at Beersheba . . . And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD” (Gen. 21:32-33). At the place of covenant, he planted the tamarisk tree which is resistant to disease, grows and reproduces quickly (as each of its flowers contains thousands of seeds), and resprouts easily if cut down. Through this symbol, we are reminded even though we sometimes face harsh circumstances in life, the everlasting God’s purposes and covenant promises can’t be thwarted. He is our YAHWEH, EL OLAM, and His Word provides us living water.
“Olam” is a Hebrew word that can be translated “everlasting” or “forever” and refers to the “fullness of time or space”. This name ultimately points to the eternal promise of God’s covenant to us through His Son, “the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last” (Rev. 21:13). “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His son born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive adoption as sons . . .Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Gal. 4:4-7). Let us receive the love of our Abba and walk in the covenant promises of our LORD [YAHWEH]. Our everlasting Father God, EL OLAM has made us rightful heirs to the will and testament of His son “Jesus [YESHUA] Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8).

Psalm 90:1-2 “The LORD [Adonay], thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God [EL].
Isaiah 40:28 “Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God [EL OLAM], the LORD [YAHWEH], the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the LORD [YAHWEH] shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
John 6:40 “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, believeth on him, may have EVERLASTING life; and I will raise him up on the last day.”
