What is repentance? With so many crying out to the LORD today declaring repentance, we really should understand what it means to repent before the LORD.
1 John 1:9; Exhorts us with this: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
So my friends, Confession is part of the process of repentance, however it is not the final step, but one in a series of Actions needed. We confess with our mouths, but it’s our actions that speak louder than our words!
The PROCESS of repentance produces not only a 180- degree turn in our hearts and in our minds and in our actions, but we have a deep felt sense of remorse for what we have done. Now this is not one-time occurrence, but a continually posture of prayer; we must daily admit sins committed, whenever we sense by Holy Spirit that we have violated the will of Father God in anyway. Then by our actions and the choices we make we will produce fruits in evidence of that repentance.
Acts 3:19; confirms this, for it declares: ”Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the LORD.”
Yes, brothers and sisters, true repentance requires action, it means we ;
Acknowledge and confession our sins, with a deep sense of remorse for those sins.
We make a 180 degree course correction and return to the perfect will of the Father.This act of returning requires a course correction or change in not only our thinking, but in our hearts. This my friends will lead us into God’s Holy presence were we will find forgiveness, refreshing and peace.
