Has the Church Forgotten?
This is an interesting question given so much of what we see today outside and within the “Church”. Now, when I say Church, I’m not talking about your local building where you meet, I’m talking about “THE CHURCH Universal”, the BODY of Christ. So, let me preface my thoughts today with that.
I took a couple of days away to just sit by the lake and listen to the breeze of God’s Wind, just me and Abba Father spending some quite time. So while I’m in this posture of contemplative worship and discussion with the Almighty, I hear these words; “Has the Church forgotten?”
Well, I meditated on that awhile, not any kind of “eastern style meditation”, but a true Biblical mediation of introspection, and this is what I sensed. ( Proverbs 20:27-28 )
What is it that we have forgotten? Then I saw a “stream” of many different ancient disciplines that the first followers of Jehovah GOD practiced, then birthed the church and were held of importance for centuries, until our present age of “enlightenment”.
My spirit was grieved as I recalled the times I’ve been in a place and recognized the removal of the Holy for the profane. How we exchange the truth for the lie?
I’ll give you an example: While on a prayer call for a “global ministry”, we were moving into a time of just thankfulness and worship after a time of strategic intercession and prayer. The foundation was lied and the moment was ripe for worship. HE was waiting on us, Father God had His heart turned towards us awaiting our love song. When a very seasoned intercessor and prayer leader responds by singing, America the Beautiful.....Yes, we are worshipping the KING of Eternity and this sound ripped the atmosphere. While I am a patriot and am glad to be an American this was profane. God will not share his worship with any man or nation!
NOW, I want you to see this from Heaven’s perspective, which should always be our goal as Christians.
Have we forgotten WHAT WORSHIP IS? I love this lady and we have shared many assignments, but this concerns me. If our leaders in the prayer movement are shifting into idolatry due to ignorance or lack of discernment....Have we forgotten the WORD of God, do we not discern what is holy from what is profane? ( Hosea 4:6, 11-13 ; Romans 1;25 ) Could it be that we have forgotten the rich spiritual disciplines of our forefather’s and exchanged them for hype and entertainment; the truth for the lie? Do we no longer understand or have the ability to sit quietly before the LORD? Must our mouths always be moving? Psalm 46:10 says; “Let go, relax, cease striving, be still and know that I AM God.” ( Psalms 100)
Where is the prayer? Where is the worship? Where is the quiet contemplative time with the LORD? These “streams of multicolored, multifaceted spiritual truths” are hanging in the atmosphere for us to remember. Call upon the LORD while He maybe found!
We are in a season of refinement and shifting. Not the old shifting of last season, but a new moving forward of revelation, of power, of authority! A new move that carries the “ancient ways of God”. Let the foundations be restored and let the Church remember, GOD ALONE is to be worshipped, and our eyes and ears must be continually focused and centered on CHRIST ALONE. (Exodus 34:14 ; Exodus 20:1-6; Romans 12;1 ; Matt 4:24 ; John 4:23-24 ; Rev. 19:10 ; John 17:17 ; Colossians 3:17 ; Isaiah 2:11, 17)
Let us repent> turn around> and seek the God of reconciliation, restitution, and redemption! Pray> seek> humble yourselves before> and acknowledge GOD ALONE ( Hosea 6:1 ; 2 Chron. 7:14 ; Daniel 9:19)
For the I AM is here, a Holy God with the power to remove all sin, and HE is longing for PURE WORSHIP!!!
