Many today have become complaisant in their prayers. Just praying endless lists of prayer targets and requests, none of which have been inspired or desired by God. Do we just pray through these spiritless petitions of our own agendas or those someone else has generated to fulfill a need inspired by or in reaction to a plan or threat of the enemy? Or should we be seeking God first for His divine plan or purpose? (Jeremiah 29:11-14a)
The Apostle Paul admonished us in Ephesians 6:18 to pray at all times in the Spirit…That is spirit with a capital S…as in Holy Spirit! We must understand the power and significance of praying in the Spirit. We are praying God’s desires, His strategies back to Him when we pray in the Spirit. We never pray amiss or out of the flesh when doing so. There is no place for personal agendas or desires, thus God Almighty is bound by His name to fulfill all prayers prayed in the Spirit, for it is He who is speaking and declaring such prayers. Whenever we pray His WORD back to Him there is an agreement between heaven and earth that takes place. God now moves out to perform HIS WORD! (Jeremiah 1:12 ; Ezekiel 12:25 ; Hebrews 6:13-18)
Do not get into fear in your prayers! For Father God promises what we need to speak will be given to us in the very hour we need to speak it. But, here is the power in this…It will be Him speaking His word through us. These prayers will then never be amiss from his divine plan or purpose, never out of order or timing…always perfect and in alignment with His divine will. (Romans 8:26-28)
So how do you pray?
“Pray at all times with all prayer and petitions in the Spirit” with understanding, speaking back to God what we have heard Him speak to us in our hearts and minds and spirits. He will then answer the prayer that He Himself has inspired! The end result will be that He gets all the glory and all will know that He is God and there is no other!
